1979

Thomas Latteyer founds Latteyer Audio Service,

the forerunner of today's company. In equipping events technically, Latteyer was one of very few in and around Cologne able to serve this field.

In 1979 there were few event technology companies and just as few manufacturers of professional audio or lighting equipment.

So Thomas Latteyer simply started developing and building loudspeakers himself. As a one-man business he sold more than a thousand of them. More or less the entire Cologne club scene was fitted with Latteyer sound systems, and in some venues those speakers can still be found today.

2006

In 2006 the company was handed over to a successor.

Johannes Brüls has run the company ever since. It was clear early on that the name and the logo should stay, so Latteyer GmbH remained Latteyer GmbH, and the loudspeaker in the logo survives almost unchanged to this day. The direction of the company, though, was to shift. Step by step Latteyer GmbH was brought up to date. Fitting out clubs became less and less of the work, while the live business grew.

2015

Until 2015 Latteyer GmbH was based in Leichlingen,

where it was founded. With a growing number of clients and commissions, however, a new home had to be found. The Langenfeld site was built, creating a new hall with offices and, above all, storage space totalling 1,400 m². The new premises were occupied in mid-2016. Even before the move Latteyer's reach had been widening. Leverkusen, Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf still account for 90 % of the area we serve. But the larger site and the larger team made Europe-wide productions possible, and smaller touring productions were added.

2020

This year was to change the whole world

and the events industry above all. Covid brought the entire events sector to its knees, and once again Latteyer had to reinvent itself. Creativity was called for, and it quickly became clear that a streaming studio had to be set up.

So not only was a studio built at the Langenfeld site, we also invested straight away in video and camera technology. Word had barely reached our regular clients before the studio was booked out indefinitely. New colleagues were taken on to meet the demand. That is how 2020 gave rise to the new areas of video and live studio production, post-production, video and sound, as well as a complete graphics and design department.

2023

The pandemic was declared over

and since 2022 the industry has slowly been picking up again. Thankfully the streaming studios are largely superfluous and live is back. The Rheinkirmes funfair in Düsseldorf took place again, and during the pandemic two permanent venues were added for Latteyer.

What comes next? We will find out together.
